Flashdance Cardigan - Adult (english)

Flashdance Cardigan is oversized, fluffy, and cropped with a folded neckband. The cardigan is knit from the top down using raglan increases. The yoke and body are knit back and forth, and the sleeves are knit in the round. I have chosen to raise the back part of the neckline for a better fit using German short rows. When all increases have been knit the sleeve stitches are placed on stitch holders while the rest of the body is knit. When the body is done, the sleeve stitches are placed on circular needles again and finished separately. The sleeves are knit in the round using stockinette stitch and can be knit with or without stripes. The ribbed edge along the front of the body and the body are knit simultaneously. The cardigan is not meant to be buttoned. If you wish for your cardigan to have buttons you can add pushbuttons or sew buttonholes in the finished rib edge using the buttonhole stitch.

To fit bust circumference:
80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) 120-130 cm.

Bust circumference of finished cardigan:
Approximately 123 (127) 131 (135) 143 (147) 151 cm.

Total length measured mid-back from under neckband including lower rib edge:
Approximately 44 (45) 46 (47) 48 (50) 52 cm.

Recommended needle size:
5mm (80 cm) circular needles, 6mm (40 cm) circular needles
& 8mm (80 cm) circular needles

Gauge:
10 stitches & 16 rows = 10 x 10 cm stockinette stitch using needle size 8 mm

Yarn usage and recommendations:
300 (300) 300 (300) 300 (400) 400 g
of hand-dyed chunky mohair from Handdyed.dk, Hillyarn
or PainthersYarn 200m = 100g

If you wish to knit a striped cardigan you will need an extra color
(or you can use leftover mohair from other projects)
