Softpuff Cardigan - Adult (english)

Softpuff Cardigan is a cropped garment with lovely puffy sleeves. It is knit from the top down by creating raglan increases as you go. The yoke and body of the cardigan is knit flat (back and forth) whereas the sleeves are knit in the round. I have chosen to raise the neckline using short rows to ensure a good fit. I use the German Short Rows technique for this. The puff around the sleeves are created by knitting extra increases along the shoulder stitches at the beginning of the work. When all increases are added the sleeve stitches are put on hold while the rest of the body is knit. When the body is finished the sleeve stitches are transferred back to the needles and are knit in stockinette in the round. This makes is easy to adjust the fit of the cardigan using any of the three included sleeve variations. The ribbed edge along the front opening of the cardigan is knit while knitting the body. The cardigan is not meant to be buttoned but rather to be open. If you would like to have buttons on your cardigan you can add snap fasteners or sew button holes using the buttonhole stitch after finishing the garment.
