Ruffle galore cardigan is a feminine, cropped model with lavish ruffles. You can also choose to skip the ruffles. This pattern is knit from the top down using raglan increases. The yoke and body are knitted back and forth, whereas the sleeves are knitted in the round. I have chosen to increase the height of the neck for a better fit by using German short rows (turn). When you have knitted all the increases, the sleeve stitches are placed on hold while you knit the body. When the body is done, your proceed by placing the sleeve stitches back on your circular needle and knit each sleeve separately. The sleeves are knitted in the round using stocking stitches and you can choose between short and long sleeves. The recipe includes both options. You are now ready to collect stitches from the front piece and start knitting your rib knit edge. The cardigan is not meant to be buttoned up, but left open. However, if you want to add buttons, I recommend that you add push buttons or create buttonholes in the finished rib knit edge using buttonhole stitches.
